“Until the time is up,” she whispered.

Leah took a deep breath and nodded. “Until the time is up.”

The meal was complete and the room was heaven—pure heaven.

There was never a time when Leah felt more serene, more sated, than after Gareth had filled her with every part of him. His body, his touch, the words of passion that he whispered in her ear—the whole package made her soul sing and her body ache with excitement. Every time their bodies met, the world simply disappeared. Pain, fear and heartache were simply taken away on the wings of some kind of angel, leaving Tallent and Lowery with the power of a love that was impossible to explain.

When she could catch her breath, Leah curled up beside him and laid her head on his warm chest. The exhaustion was overwhelming, but the feeling that ran through her limbs was sheer bliss. With the endearing words of true love ringing in her ears, Leah fell into a deep—well protected—sleep.

“For the love of God it’s January! Why is it so bloody hot?!” Leah’s voice made the limo driver twitch slightly in his seat.

“We’re actually expecting a heat wave that’s supposed to last here through next week, Miss. It’s not usually this hot this time of year,” the driver remarked.

Leah grimaced at his words. “Well . . . we have good luck.”

Gareth laughed. “I think my companion wanted to enjoy a swim in the pool and grab a tan instead of going out and exploring a bunch of rocks.”

He nodded. “Perfectly understandable, Miss. I’d rather do that myself,” the driver agreed, clearing his throat. “If I may say so, all of our tourist spots will be a trial today in this heat. Perhaps the lady has the right idea, Sir.”

“What else is around here?” Leah asked.

Anippe whispered beside her, “Ignorant American.”

Leah slapped her on the arm, as the driver flashed a truly beautiful smile in the rearview mirror. “The Tel es-Sultan, of course, which is the ancient city of Jerusalem, is the most famous.”
